The Therapets

Nicklaus
Nicky is a gray with white Domestic Shorthair. He is named after a famous golfer, since he was found on a golf course. He was rescued from the bitter cold on a winter night when he was a young kitten. He is playful and serious at the same time. Nicky is part of the feline crew of therapy cats.

Miss Texana
Texana is a one in a million therapy dog. At only 6 months old, she began intuitively sensing when someone needed comforting, and would snuggle up to them for as long as they needed her. Texana is a princess who loves to dress up and have her picture taken.

Lambeau
Lambeau was born in Wisconsin, so he is definitely a Cheese Head. And of course with his name he is a huge Green Bay Packers Fan. He loves to retrieve sticks and toys, but his favorite toy is his big round orange bouncy ball! He also loves to swim and keep the squirrels out of the bird feeder.

Henry
Henry is a sweet, fun-loving hound. He is laid-back and loves everyone. He cheerfully greets guests with his favorite toys...only to show them off. When he's not volunteering, he spends his time with his sister, Annie. Together they chase squirrels and rabbits and explore new territory.

Cuddles
Cuddles loves to snuggle under the blankets with her family (that is how she got her name). She also enjoys her time as a Therapet and all the attention she receives from people.

Buck
If he could just hold the cards, Buck could be a winning poker player. But his droll expression and calm demeanor are all just part of his charm. However, he does get mildly excited when his Therapet gear comes out! Buck, a.k.a. Buckaroo, lives on a farm where he loves to play with his friends. His hobbies include chasing the birds that fly overhead, riding in the Kawaski Mule, and begging for snacks.

William
William is a Domestic Shorthair. His eyes are a beautiful shade of turquoise. This handsome boy is part of the feline crew of therapy cats. William is a total ham who, if given the chance, would drive a rehab patient's electric wheelchair across the room. He loves to roll on a therapy table, sometimes landing in a patient's lap.

Wheeler
I am a happy, hoppy boy, wheeling and dealing out smiles everywhere I go. Don’t let my small size fool you; my huge personality makes up for it! I was rescued from the side of the road in 2015. My people nursed me to health and taught me how to be a good boy. When I am not being a Therapet, I love taking long walks, playing with my fur friends, and being chased.

Swagger
I was rescued as a small puppy and was soon adopted by my family, who think I am pretty awesome. I am very proud to be a Therapet, and it doesn’t hurt that the cape makes me look quite handsome! I am very outgoing and I love to meet people. I usually enter the room with a big smile and a wagging tail. I am quite the snuggler, and and I love to rest my head on your shoulder. I may leave a little bit of hair behind, but I have plenty to share. Consider it a little gift from me!

Sugar
My name is Sugar and I am a Beagle. I normally have my nose to the ground sniffing everything.... this is how I get to know you. In June 2017 I was adopted by my new family, so I now live with two Beagles and two cats. I have been a Therapet since 2013, which makes my tail wag because I get lots of love and attention and get to see people smile. Some of my favorite things are snacks, squeaky toys and chasing the cats around the house.

Zane
Zane is a tri-color Border Collie. One of his favorite things in the world is herding sheep. He loves to help with the farm chores and he even tries to herd the house cats. Also top of his list of favorite things is being a therapy dog. He loves to visit and get close for petting.

Waverly
I am a wiggly, waggly girl who makes friends everywhere I go. My people adopted me in 2017, and we trained for 9 months to earn my blue cape. When I am not being a Therapet, I love my toys, playing with my fur friends, and being a lap dog.

Murphy
Murphy is an English Teddybear Goldendoodle, which is a cross between a Poodle and an English Golden Retriever. Murphy has a very sweet temperament and is loyal and attentive to his human mom; he never lets her out of his sight! His favorite things to do are riding in the car, chasing or staring down squirrels, and going to the lake to go on boat rides!

Pepper
Pepper is a delightfully precocious pittie rescue, who loves bringing happiness and joy to everyone she meets. She volunteers at the rehabilitation hospital, prison, and community events.

Puff Puff
Puff Puff was adopted from the SPCA of East TX. When he arrived to his forever home, he only weighed 1 lb. He is a sweet, gentle boy who would love nothing more than to spend most of his life sitting in your lap. He loves to ride in a car and go with his mommy to work. Puff Puff enjoys playing with all dogs big or small.

Tex's Roadie
I like to compete in Rally, Conformation & Go To Ground events. My favorite toys are balls, and I love pool diving for balls. I also love riding in the car with the air conditioned seats turned on. I like to dress up when I visit people. I’m usually a good boy, but one time I woke up Mama with a gopher in my mouth.

Louis

Linus
Linus is an Australian Labradoodle who loves playing ball and zooming through the sprinklers. His deep trust and strong bond to his mom enables him to conquer any new adventure with boldness and charisma. No doubt this Therapet’s spunk and charm will brighten the day of everyone he visits.

Lily Grace
Lily Grace truly has a “golden” personality. LG has a fun, mischievous side that sometimes gets her into trouble, but her lopsided, goofy grin helps her be forgiven quickly. Therapy work is her calling. She is very intuitive and can comfort the hurting and brokenhearted or melt the hardest heart. Lily Grace loves sharing her gifts with old and young alike.

Kramer
Kramer is a striking guy with a gentle yet puppy-like personality. He enjoys swimming, playing fetch, and visiting with patients. With every task he proves himself to be a shining ambassador for his breed.

Caravelle

Daisy
Daisy is a precious gift from God and brings joy to everyone she meets. She was adopted by her “furrever” Mom in 2021 and became a Therapet in 2022. While walking one day, a little boy saw her and said to his daddy, “Can I hug that big marshmallow, Daddy?” So now she bears the middle name of “Marshmallow.” She is indeed a princess and one that makes people laugh. What more could I ask for?

Benny
Benny is a goofy, handsome boy who loves to play. He is a "toyoholic" and is happiest carrying around the house at least 2 or more toys at the same time. During his training, he has made lots of friends around the community at dog-friendly locations, and he looks forward to making even more friends volunteering as a Therapet.

Erasmus
Erasmus (also known as Rassy) is a sassy boxer girl who tries to be good but sometimes there are just too many other options. Boxers are the comedians of the dog world and she is no exception, keeping her humans in stitches on a daily basis. Often mistaken for a boy because of her name, Erasmus means beloved and that’s just what she is--loved! So much so that she’s got plenty to share with you.

Chuck
Hi. My name is Chuck. My mom was a Lab and my dad a Golden Retriever. I love people, especially kids. I have worked so hard to be a Therapet. I’m so happy I made it! When I’m not loving on people, I like to chase squirrels in my back yard and practice agility with my big brother.

Sydney
Sydney is a female black tri Australian Shepherd born May 12, 2019. She is an energetic, rough and tumble farm dog at home with her Aussie brother Gus. In public, she is sweet and a bit shy. She LOVES people of all ages, preferring “pets” from them over playing with other dogs. She loves water but does not like Dock Diving. She loves Agility, especially the tunnels.

Bella
Our Goldendoodle, Bella, came to us via the winning bid at Bethesda’s Birthday Bash charity silent auction. She loves to be petted, especially by children. Bella has her dad pretty well trained but he’s still a work in progress. She can’t wait to bring her big heart into your life.

Candy
Candy was rescued on Christmas Day at four months old when she just showed up at my house. She was so sweet from the moment she came to us, that’s why her name is Candy! She loves other dogs, all people from toddlers to adults, playing in the mud, and playing with her ball. She also loves sun bathing, showing off her “good girl” tummy tattoo, and car rides.

Pearl
Pearl is a happy, sweet English Labrador that loves to be the center of attention. Pearl has never met a stranger and is loving her life as a Therapet. She prefers long naps over long walks and has been known to fall asleep on the therapy table. Pearl is at her happiest when meeting new people.

Bella
Bella was born to be a Therapet. She was rescued when she was less than two years old and started her training immediately. She loves children and offers special comfort to folks with intellectual disabilities. She enjoys walks and chewing sticks when she’s not busy spreading joy.

Sage
Sage was rescued from the middle of a highway when he was 6 months old. He was badly injured but recovered quickly and is healthy and happy now! He has a sweet “golden” personality and has been a Therapet since 2019. Sage especially enjoys visiting schools because he loves children! At home, he enjoys taking long walks and napping near his family.

Walter
Both of my parents are champion show dogs. My official AKC registered name is Culben Creek, Southern Sweetness - but my friends call me Walter! Being a Therapet is the best job ever - I get lots of love and attention from everyone, and in return I get to make people smile and feel better. When I'm not volunteering, I am in full Beagle mode - sniffing, digging, barking, and playing fetch. My favorite things are squeaky toys, snacks, and naps.

Leon
Leon was found wandering around, and rescued from, a dog show we were attending in Leon County, Texas, so that’s where his name came from. He’s very friendly, especially with kids, and he loves other dogs. He also loves to go to the hunt camp with his “Dad” and older sister Piper to chase the “mean ole camp rabbit.” He’s a rather smart little boy. Dad shoots hogs with his bow, and Leon goes and finds the hog for him.

Lydia
Hi, my name is Lydia but my mom and dad call me “Smoochie” because I love giving puppy kisses! I love going to Therapet and seeing all my doggo friends, but I really love volunteering and making people like you smile! My favorite thing to do is sleep on my mom’s head and snore REAL LOUD! I also like to play with squeaky toys, fetch my ball and snuggle with everyone!

Milly
Milly is a sweetheart who loves to light up the room with her smile and wagging tail. She LOVES snuggling, followed closely by swimming, fetching, going on boat rides, and sniffing for critters at the lake. While she’s a pretty active girl, she’s always ready for a belly rub and has never met a stranger. Milly is the big sister to three human siblings, and her mom is her best friend. But if you share some treats with her, you’ll be her favorite, too.

Annie
Hi, my name is Annie, and I am a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. My motto is “life is short, and so are my legs.” My favorite part of the day is always eating! I live with two doggy and two kitty friends. One of my sisters, Rylie the German Shepherd, is a Therapet, too! In my free time, I enjoy herding my sisters, snacking, and napping. I also enjoy walks, but not for too long as I get hot, and my tiny legs wear out!

Kate
I am Kate, a black-bi Australian Shepherd. In August of 2021, I was adopted by my new family. I joined three other Australian Shepherds that I run, play, and hunt with. When I am ready to wake up and “seize the day,” I get my mom’s slippers and drop them on her in bed. It works every time! Mostly, I love to be petted and give love to little and big people everywhere. I am also R.E.A.D.® certified, so I can help children enjoy books and cuddle me at the same time.

Ruby
Hi, my name is Ruby. My mom rescued me from the streets on a cold, rainy Valentine’s Day. Once I found my forever home I got to share my big heart and in return receive lots of love. I love to wrestle and play tug of war with my brother Rocky. I also enjoy taking naps in the sunshine and making new friends that will pet me frequently.

Gracie
Gracie (aka Polka Dot) is the Princess of her pack. She is quite the huntress although she wouldn’t know what to do with a squirrel if she caught one. We often refer to her as Princess Polka Dot or Polka Dotted Heathen—as the situation demands. You won’t find a sweeter heart anywhere. Thank you Miss Marilyn for this precious girl!

Baxter
Baxter loves to make people smile. He has never met a stranger. His main goal in life is to make his mom and dad laugh and give them kisses. He is excited about his Therapet career and looks forward to all the opportunities to make new friends.

Vivian
My name is Vivian and I am the ninth Therapet in my family. You might say I have big shoes to fill, but I have been accused of stealing shoes, so that is a touchy subject for me. I was not born in Texas, but I came as soon as I could. I enjoy learning new things with my new sisters, especially when string cheese is involved. Making new friends is one of my better things, and I hope to do a lot more of that as a Therapet.

Cooper
My life is an awesome adventure! The best things are meeting people, running agility and getting petted. I had to work very hard for 4 years to become a Therapet. Some say I was too enthusiastic, but I made it and have been a Therapet for 6 years now. In 2019, I was honored as the Therapet Visitation Animal of the Year. In the same year I earned my CPE agility champion title. I love being a Therapet!

Brutus
Brutus will keep you entertained with his silly antics. Whether he’s rolling around on the floor playing with his toys or engaged in a rousing game of tug, he’s always on the move. In his more serous moments, he competes in obedience and rally.

Phoebe
Phoebe was rescued from the middle of a highway in October 2012. She worked very hard in obedience classes to become a Therapy dog in August 2013. She is super smart, loves to retrieve, and helps people by working as a Therapet. She loves to snuggle and sit in your lap! In her spare time, Phoebe loves to run and play, chase squirrels, and explore the woods.

Biscuit
Hi! My name is Biscuit. Growing up, I roamed the streets, scared and hungry. Then I lived in a crate at the shelter. Life changed when I got my forever home. My new mom taught me love and good manners, and slowly I learned to trust. Now I get to make new friends and enjoy my favorite thing, being petted and loved. My hobbies are playing with my farm friends and sitting in mom’s lap.

Maggie
Maggie is a sweet girl with a big smile and long eyelashes. Her favorite things in life are swimming in the lake, long walks, running in the yard with her doggie friends, and chasing toys. She loves meeting new people and her work as a Therapet bringing smiles and comfort to all.

Bonnie
My dad accidentally showed my mom my picture and the rest is history! Giving my mom and dad kisses when they get home from work, playing in my kiddy pool and playing with my brothers are my favorite hobbies! If you want to win my heart, give me lots of belly rubs!

Esther
Esther is the tenth Therapet in our family. She came from Oklahoma, but she was tiny, so we have not told her she was not born a Texan. Esther enjoys retrieving her ball and racing around playing with her sister. Her favorite food is everything. She is willing to try dog sports like barn hunt, agility, scent work and rally, even though her physique is not exactly sporty. Esther loves meeting new people which makes being a Therapet volunteer the ideal job for her.

Hart
Hart was a rescue puppy who’s cute little face and stunning blue eyes won her human mom’s heart from the beginning. When she’s not working the rehab table or meeting new friends during visitation, she can be found training and competing in obedience, rally, nosework and dock diving. She’s always down for a rousing game of tug with her Boxer brother Brutus or a good belly rub from Mom.

Lizzie
I am Lizzie, a blue merle Australian Shepherd. Not all Aussies have blue eyes like mine, so I feel very lucky. My mom and dad rescued me at age one. They gave me a home with three other Aussies that I love to run with. I love dock diving, playing dog agility, and running! I am also a Dog Scout of America. This allows me to attend meetings, camp, and learn all kinds of fun things. Mostly, I love to cuddle!

Abbie
Abbie was adopted by her family when she was 10 weeks old and became a Therapet when she was 1½ years old. She loves to visit the patients at Encompass Rehab and students at local schools. Abbie was chosen 2020-2021 Therapy Animal of the Year. At home, she plays with her rescue “sisters” Lilly, Betsy, and Lyla; also with her new Golden “sister,” Lucy. Abbie loves to bring smiles to everyone she meets.

Blanca
Blanca is a rescue blessing – intelligent, strong willed, and the life of the party. Part Dutch and German Shepherds, Labrador Retriever, and Border Collie, she’s a bundle of alertness and energy, who never met a Frisbee she didn’t love. She volunteers at hospitals, prison, and community events.

Jackson
Jackson found his fur-ever home in April of 2021 after being rescued as a stray prior to the big snow storm of that year. He eventually found his way to his new mom and dad and has been living the good life ever since. His favorite things to do include scratching his back by rolling in the grass; asking for belly rubs; and enjoying treats. Jackson has never met a stranger and loves to meet new friends, whether they have two legs or four! He is such a sweet and happy dog that all the patients and staff at the places he visits as a Therapet become happy, too!

Mattie
Mattie is a happy pittiepotamus girl who loves life! Having spent time in Smith County Animal Control, she now considers life a pawty! Her favorite pastimes include playing “gladiators” with her boxer sister (and any other fur sibling that wants to join in), napping in mom’s lap, and eating! Her obvious superpower is love and she enjoys spreading it to everyone she meets.

Rocky
Hi, my name is Rocky. My parents adopted me as a puppy in 2020. I enjoy playing soccer, catching a frisbee and swimming in the pool with my parents. I also enjoy chasing and wrestling with my sister Ruby who is also a Therapet. If you have a chance to pet me, I really enjoy a good belly rub.

Roux
Roux is a sweet gift from God that was found in the street by his “furr-ever” mom in July 2019. He trained for several years to learn to control his “happy happy” bouncing energy and finally became a Therapet in 2023. Roux’s favorite things are: his stuffed toys, stealing shoes, playing with friends, car rides, meeting new people and fried chicken. He is ready to spread happiness around the community, but watch out ladies – his gold eyes will melt you!

Scrappy
Hi! My name is Miss Scrappy. I’m the fifth Jack Russell that my mom has trained for Therapet. I love people, expecially children. I love dressing up with bows and hats, but I also like being a tomboy - swimming, rolling in the mud, chasing balls, and going to dog shows to compete in hunting for rats. My favorite game to play is “catch me if you can.” I think treats should come every couple of hours and after every meal.

Jake
Jake is a very happy boy who loves everyone and is always looking for a party. He is also always eager to meet new people and loves getting lots of petting while working for Therapet. At home he is an excellent farm hand and his favorite farm duty is working with the sheep, moving them to the correct pasture or putting them up for the night. He also loves playing tag or ball with all his housemates and playing in the mud.

CoCo
CoCo is fabulous. She’s a black beauty who loves to be pampered, especially when getting her teeth brushed. She enjoys getting her exercise in, either on the treadmill or chasing the ball in the yard. CoCo’s favorite activity, however, is playing with her brother, Louis, a fellow Therapet.

LolaBelle
LolaBelle is the sweetest wiggly boxer girl, and she has worked so hard to become a Therapet. Her enthusiasm for volunteering is evident in every interaction. When she is not spreading joy volunteering in the community, she loves to go on walks with her mom, play with her friends at the park, or chase squeaky toys.

Oliver
Oliver is a true cuddle buddy with teddy bear hair that’s oh so soft to the touch. People admire his cute tuxedo coloration, along with his sweet face and long eyelashes. As a puppy, Oliver had a rough start with a fractured leg and PARVO. Thanks to wonderful veterinary care, Oliver is now able to bring smiles to everyone he meets. His truly happy disposition and love for meeting people makes him a perfect fit for Therapet. In his free time, Oliver loves to go on long walks and play with his sister Olivia.

Lexi
Meet Lexi (aka Lady Fluffington), the street-smart stray turned country royalty. Lexi’s hobbies include barking at elusive foes (squirrels, pickup trucks, the wind), indulging in adoration (and occasional snacks) from neighbors and friends, and demanding belly rubs. A self-proclaimed outdoor enthusiast, she loves walks and basking regally in the backyard. Obedience school was a challenge as she prefers to charm her way through life. We persevered and she loves her job as a Therapet spreading joy, and a little fluff!

Stormy
Hi!! My name is Stormy and I am a purebred Labrador Retriever, although I’m much smaller than most Labs. Because of my small size, I like to think of myself as a LAPrador, since I am the perfect size to cuddle on my mom’s lap. I get to travel all over doing Obedience and Rally competitions and when I am not doing Therapet visits, competing or training, I love to play ball and tug, swim and eat (not necessarily in that order, though, since I am highly food-motivated!).

Max
Max is a dog who is full of life and love. His favorite hobbies include traveling and searching out people to give him belly rubs, but life really gets good when he’s home on the ranch. There Max enjoys digging in gopher holes, swimming, collecting branches, running in the hay eld, and drinking water with the horses. Max enjoys sharing his zest for life with young and old alike. He has been a blessing to his family, and now he’s ready to share his love with you.

Alex
Alex is relaxed and cuddly dude, but he’s always up for a good adventure. His favorite activities are going for runs, doing a little paddle boarding, and getting to go for car rides. He is a sweet boy who found his way into our home as a surprise for the family. We have been blessed by him ever since.

Nova
Nova is a beautiful and friendly silver Lab who enjoys nothing more than being loved on. Her serene demeanor and gentle presence bring joy, comfort, and a sense of tranquility to everyone she meets. Her favorite activities include playing fetch, cuddling, and going to work with her mom. Whether she’s offering a comforting nuzzle or simply sitting by someone’s side, Nova’s loving nature shines through, making a positive impact wherever she goes.

Fern
Fern comes from a long line of loyal, gentle dogs who are special companions to their humans. Ever since she was born, folks were telling Fern she would make a good therapet because of her calm nature and how much she loves being around people. Fern enjoys going on walks, playing fetch, swimming, getting brushed, playing with squeaky toy, and snuggling with her humans.

Penny
My name is Penny, and I am the sweetest little Chihuahua. I am a rescue who enjoys life with my mom and being the boss of my dog and cat siblings. I love squeaky toys, lounging in my mom’s recliner, and snacking on apples and carrots. I may be small, but my personality and my heart are huge!

Dart
Hello, I’m D’art, and I have never met a stranger. My main goal in life is to bring a smile to your face and also to receive all the pets. I especially love having my ears massaged. When I’m not “therapizing”, as my parents call it, I serve as the Director of Transportation at my parent’s veterinary practice. I take my position very seriously but I’m often caught sleeping on the job. Don’t let my size fool you. I may be small but I have a lot of love to offer!

Nellie
Nellie is a purebred AKC-registered German Shepherd. She was born on the 4th of July, so her mom calls her a little firecracker. Nellie had a rough start in life, but after her mom got her from the Rescue, life changed for the better! Nellie is perpetually happy and has the sweetest smile. Her nickname is Nellie-belly because she loves belly rubs. When she is not spreading love and comfort with Therapet, she enjoys her daily trail hikes and jogging, doing rally and obedience training, playing with her cats, and helping her mom with barn chores.
